Zekri currently plays for El Masry. Having made his name at El Masry, he is blessed with brilliant composure, as well as good heading and marking ability. He is the current captain of the Egyptian Under-21 national team and reportedly turned down offers from El Ahly to join El Zamalek, the club he supports. He then joined Petrojet before returning to his original team, El Masry.
Karim is the twin brother of striker Mohamed Zekri.
